I am a multi-tasker, a trait that truly comes in handy for travel consultants. I write down everything, put reminders in the computer, keep plenty of notes and spend extra time in the office making sure all the details are handled for my clients. Those organizational skills make a huge difference when it comes to planning the trip of a lifetime.
With plenty of specialist courses on my resume and nearly 20 years in the world of travel, I am well-versed in many destinations. I’ve learned the ins and outs of specific locations, and I’m ready to share personal experiences with clients as I prepare them for their own trips. For instance, I always try to eat what the locals eat, even if I don’t like the way it tastes, because it helps me understand the culture of my host country. That said, I’m well aware that this is my clients’ trip, not mine, so I ask them plenty of questions as I learn about their likes, dislikes, budgets and overall desires.
I enjoy arranging trips to Great Britain, which I have visited three times; the Caribbean and Hawaii, both unbelievably beautiful; Mexico, so colorful and cultural; and Israel, which I find absolutely fascinating. One of my most memorable trips was to England and Scotland, a ten-day jaunt with my husband. We rented a car and stayed in castles, and he got to live his dream by playing the region’s historic golf courses.
I’m game to plan all types of travel, but a honeymoon is particularly fun because it’s such a happy time in a couple’s life. I also relish the opportunity to create cruise vacations, a great way to see many places while only having to unpack once. A wedding at sea combines the best of both worlds. What better way to say “I do” than aboard a luxury liner with all the amenities?
