I got into the travel business over
20 years ago because I liked the idea of seeing new places, learning about different
cultures and, best of all, making people happy. Today I still feel that way. I’ve
become well-versed in many destinations, including Italy, with its amazing architecture,
history, food and wine; Costa Rica, home of wonderful people and spectacular nature;
and Canyon Ranch, the epitome of a health and wellness getaway. In order to fine-tune
my product knowledge, I’ve taken numerous seminars presented by cruise lines,
destinations, hoteliers and attractions.
But the best part of my job comes when people return from their travels full of
joy. It’s satisfying when they thank me, saying that the itinerary I put
together for them exceeded their expectations. I’m gratified when they tell
me that they learned things along the way or that they savored their vacation
with family members. And, it means the world to me when they trust me enough to
refer their friends to me. That’s the ultimate compliment.
As I work with people, I try to get into their psyches to understand what they're
really looking for in a trip. Do they want to unwind from stress? Are they looking
for romantic seclusion? Is it important for them to spend more quality time with
their children? I ask lots of questions, which helps me choose the most appropriate
travel options for them. My clients and I often build a rapport over the years,
and it’s not uncommon for honeymooners to return and ask me to plan an anniversary
