Location Specific Information

Las Ventanas al Paraíso means The Windows to Paradise—a name that only hints at the possibilities for romance. Here, on the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Mexican desert meets the Sea of Cortez, pathways lined with cacti and other indigenous plants wind past chalk-white adobe villas, shady verandas and mirror-like infinity pools. The air of romance is palpable. In fact, couples under the spell of this Eden-by-the-sea often vow to marry while on vacation and then return to tie the knot onsite.

These couples, often with loving friends and family in tow, follow in the footsteps of such fans of the resort as Tiger Woods, Jennifer Lopez and Sean Penn. And yet, despite the A-list guest book and AAA five-diamond appointments, the resort lacks even a trace of grandiosity or pretension. The service is abundant and attentive, yet discreet and out of sight unless needed or requested.

Las Ventanas employs a backstage director of romance to arrange carriage rides, private beach dinners, desert picnics, rose petal–strewn baths—or any other romantic notion a guest might name. For weddings, the onsite coordinator sees to everything from the legalities to the exact kind of chocolate requested for the wedding cake. Most couples say “I do” on the beach or on The Plaza, perched high above the sea against a blazing sunset. Receptions gather at the indoor outdoor banquet room or on the beach accompanied by a Mexican-style barbecue and serenade.

Later, guests can enjoy breakfast in bed or alfresco at The Restaurant. They can lunch on lobster tacos at the Sea Grill, sample rare tequilas at the Tequila & Sushi Bar or dine in the midst of great vintages in the wine cellar. The spa’s celebrated pampering menu rivals the dining choices; and workouts at the fitness center, tennis and golf on a Robert Trent Jones, Jr., course only scratch the surface of activities at hand.

Meanwhile, all 71 suites draw on the exquisite beauty of Baja, epitomizing desert chic with their wood-beamed ceilings, limestone floors and hand-tiled headboards. All provide fireplaces, sea-view terraces, splash pools with Jacuzzis and—for a truly out-of-this-world experience—telescopes to bring the heavens at Land’s End even closer.
