A visual delight, The Ebell of Los Angeles was built in the 1920's to house one of the nation's most prestigious women's clubs. With its Italian Renaissance architecture, red tile roofs and wrought- iron rails and grates, it exemplifies the signature west coast look associated with L.A.'s boom days.

Arched doorways, including an intricately crafted wrought-iron main entrance, lead into sunny galleries and lofty salons, each of which has its own intriguing detail.

The large pleasant Main Dining Room features a series of carved columns with arches supporting its high ceiling, and a bank of tall French windows that open onto the adjacent courtyard. Enclosed by picturesque arcades, flowering shrubs and trees, it's no surprise that this serene garden courtyard is the preferred spot for ceremonies.

Exchange vows in the shade of a Purple Myrtle tree or in front of a fountain topped with an appealing bronze statue. Guests are seated on a well-kept green lawn surrounding the fountain, and the brides can make their entrance from the tall arched doorway of the Art Salon, just off the courtyard.

This unique room features dramatic draped doorways, antique furniture and French doors leading out to the garden. It serves as a foyer for the larger Lounge, a magnificent space with a striking carved Italian ceiling, wrought iron chandeliers, original hardwood floors, a stage with its own custom made Grand Piano, plus a mezzanine from which to look down on it all! The club was built with Ladies in mind, like a deluxe women's restroom, beautifully adorned changing rooms and the broad, shallow steps of the staircase, guaranteed to make any bridal entrance- even in the highest heels- a graceful one.

Both elegance and functionality were important to the leading society women who planned and paid for this extraordinary social center, and The Ebell bears the marks of their good judgment and good taste in every detail.
