The Georgetown Lodge Sits at the base of the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness Area. Hundreds of miles of pristine trail provide world class camping, hiking, wildlife watching, horseback riding, and four wheeling. The lake is surrounded by blue ribbon trout fishing streams and is know as one of the best fly fishing areas in the country. Golfers can play a full 18 holes on the nearby Jack Nicholas Signature Golf Course.
Downhill Skiing –
Discovery Ski area is only 6 miles from the lodge and boasts great terrain, uncrowded slopes, amazing views and a friendly atmosphere. Discovery’s 614 skiable acres are spread over 2100 acres of National Forest. The two north-facing bowls offer some of the steepest lift-served skiing around. The extensive frontside faces offer excellent beginner & intermediate runs. The terrain truely offers something for everyone – tree skiing, powder bowls, mogul-runs, groomed trails and great boarding air.
With over 150 miles of groomed snowmobile trails the Georgetown lake area offers some of the best snowmobiling in the state. Trails leave from behind the lodge up to Peterson meadow where you can take a break in the forest service maintained cabin then return for a warm drink at the lodge.
Georgetown Lake was made for snowkiting. Using a kite to pull you on a snowboard or skis provides one of the most thrilling sensations you will ever find. Snowkiting combines the freedom and adventure of exploring the back country of Montana with all of the thrills that can be found at a ski hill. Add to that the ability of a kite to pull you up a hill plus the sensation you get from boosting high above the ground and what you get is the fastest growing sport in the world. Georgetown Lake is becoming known as one of best places in the world for snowkiting.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus and routed through one of the most unique sites in the country, the Old Works Golf Course is about as good a play as you’ll find in the northwest. Actually, Golf Digest ranks Old Works as the top-ranked public course in Montana. After playing the course, you’ll be shouting a few accolades yourself.
Georgetown Lake is known as one of the nations best fly fishing lakes. A natural population of freshwater shrimp makes for enormous trout(rainbow, cutthroat, and brown). The lake also holds a population of land locked Kokanee salmon and the nearby Flint and Rock creeks offer blue ribbon trout streams.
Hundreds of miles of trails leave right from the back of the lodge into the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness area. Inhabitants of this high country include mountain goats, squirrels, and raptors like hawks and eagles. Elk, moose, deer, bears, mountain lions and many of smaller mammals and birds also call the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness home. Located less than one days drive from either Yellowstone, or Glacier National Parks, the Lodge serves as a perfect midway point. All of the scenery with less of the crowds. Plus, being located in Southwestern Montana the Lodge sits right in the middle of blue ribbon trout fisheries. It all starts right outside your door on the beautiful Georgetown Lake.
