Boca Raton Resort & Club501 East Camino Real Boca Raton, FL
Endeavoring to build the world’s most architecturally beautiful hotel, legendary architect Addison Mizner set a gold standard for Florida’s Boca Raton Resort & Club. His Spanish-Mediterranean design incorporated courtyards and fountains in the gardens outside, while his own collection of rare antiques from old churches and universities in Spain and Central America graced the inside. When it opened its doors in 1926, the $1.25-million price tag made it the most expensive 100-room hotel ever built.
Over the years, 100 rooms became 1,043, located in what might best be described as five distinct boutique hotels. And Mizner’s tradition of classic art and architecture endures.
Today’s guests choose accommodations located in The Cloister, the original heart of the hotel; the 27-story Tower, a contemporary alternative with views of the golf course, IntraCoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean; the Boca Beach Club, just steps from the warm Atlantic waters; the 120 Boca Bungalows, some with kitchens; and the latest addition, the Yacht Club, evoking a grand Venetian palace.
While a team of expert event planners, Boca by Design, handles the wedding details, couples are free to join their guests in exploring the property. Pre- or post-wedding camaraderie takes place on two 18-hole golf courses, 30 tennis courts or on the half-mile stretch of private beach. The variety of rentable equipment affords opportunities for kayaking, snorkeling, power boating, jet-skiing and sports fishing. When its time to refuel the body, the choice of 12 restaurants and bars (with two more opening this year) offer something for every appetite.
A highlight of every stay: a visit to Spa Palazzo. Here, signature treatments range from restorative water therapies at the Palazzo Baths to Sevruga Caviar Facials and the Palazzo Sugar Cane Scrub. Spa-day packages make it easy for brides to organize quality time with their attendants. When the big day arrives, the salon stands ready with full styling and make-up services.
Picture-perfect wedding venues wait around every corner. The 146,000 square feet of indoor event space includes rooms suitable for groups of 15 to 2,000, in styles ranging from Spanish-Mediterranean to beach club-intimate to contemporary-sophisticate. Florida’s year-round tropical climate invites guests to flow freely between several of the ballrooms and their adjoining garden courtyards.
